Wearing a face mask is still a federal requirement on all public transit, including all passengers and drivers in the OC Vanpool program. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an Order on January 29, 2021, requiring the wearing of masks by travelers to prevent spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. This Order must be followed by all passengers on public conveyances, including vanpools (rideshares). Masks that cover both the mouth and nose when boarding, traveling on, or disembarking the vanpool.
More information and updates about this order can be found on the CDC's website.
Minimum vanpool startup occupancy has been temporarily reduced to 50%. In an effort to facilitate increased vanpool formation during the pandemic, minimum vanpool startup occupancy has been temporarily reduced from 70% to 50% for vanpools formed from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
